Writing

In writing, we will choose from our list of seed ideas for narrative stories and develop a new writing piece. From our recent study of the writing process, we will apply the skills taught and integrate those techniques at more of an independent level. Additionally, we will use mentor text as a model and draw inspiration from those texts for our own purpose.

Word Study Focus: Word structure and usage of possessive nouns

Science

In science, we will plant seeds to prepare for crickets and anoles to live in our terrariums. We will observe plants in multiple environments and learn about hydroponics. When we observe different types of ecosystem we will determine the consistency for healthy plant growth.

Math

In math, we will use our understanding of place value to round, add and subtract decimals. On Tuesday and Wednesday we will review for and take the unit 2 assessment to wrap up the unit. We will go onto unit 3, where we will use benchmark fractions and number sense of fractions to estimate and assess the reasonableness of answers in real world problems.

Reading

In reading, we will continue to read our novels and determine the theme based on the details in the text, including how characters in a story respond to challenges or how the speaker in a story reflects upon a topic and then summarize the text.
